Development of the open innovation platform DEMOLA Latvia


Latvian IT Cluster takes part in the Nordic-Baltic Mobility and Network Programme for Business and Industry. The project consists of four Latvian IT Cluster visits: two visits to Sweden - Norrköping and Lund, and also two visits to Finland - Tampere and Oulu, where DEMOLA nodes are successfully functioning. All platforms are different in terms of age, geographical location, participating enterprise and university profiles as well as structurally, thus all nodes visits will allow the Latvian IT Cluster to deepen their experience and knowledge about different aspects of DEMOLA network and how DEMOLA innovation systems increases regional entrepreneurship.

The main objectives of the project:

  • Establish Nordic-Baltic DEMOLA network connections for future collaboration;

  • Facilitate more effective DEMOLA platforms' scaling in Latvia;

  • Increase the knowledge capacity of the DEMOLA Latvia project managers and facilitators about the administrative and operational processes of the platform;

  • Introduce the Latvian IT Cluster member companies and partners to the creative workshop sessions where students are introducing their products to the business sector and testing with end user.

About the Nordic-Baltic Mobility and Network Programme for Business and Industry

Programme gives financial support to different stakeholders in the fields of business and industry to carry out study visits, internships, on the job training or network and cluster facilitating activities in Baltic or Nordic countries, as appropriate, with the aim to strengthen cooperation within the priority areas of the programme.

The programme is administered by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Latvia.

The programme is established to promote and strengthen economic cooperation, entrepreneurship and innovation opportunities in the NB8 countries (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden). The overall goal is to increase the global competitive power of the region.
