Latvian IT Cluster joins the Øresund IT cluster’s regional network 

In order to strengthen international cooperation, the Latvian IT Cluster has signed Business Roaming Agreement with the region's most progressive IT cluster - Øresund (Sweden) Cluster 55°. The Agreement will promote both development of national IT sector, and the Baltic Sea Region's global competitiveness in the IT field.

By signing the Agreement, Latvian and Swedish cluster agreed to provide access to their facilities (office, conference room and other installations that have resembling purposes) to the Business Roaming Agreement partners and its members.  The cooperation is a good and necessary support for the IT industry, especially for small businesses because business infrastructure available free of charge allows decrease the costs not directly related to innovation.

The Cluster 55°Business Roaming Agreement is a project where the vision is to achieve an increasing cooperation among organizations worldwide. The fundamental idea is to facilitate business for each individual organization.

The cooperation with Cluster 55° will give an opportunity for the Latvian IT Cluster to gain the best practice and expertise from Swedish colleagues because the “Cluster 55°” was founded already in year 1999, and is proud of achievements of Øresund region, considered to be the fastest growing IT region in Europe. The Latvian IT Cluster plans to use the extensive regional network of the Cluster 55° to promote Latvian IT solutions and facilitate the export across the borders in the future.

Till now the cooperation network of the Baltic Sea Region countries has been created and successfully operated within the project “Stardust”, where Latvian IT Cluster participates since September 2010. The project aims to promote the Baltic Sea Region's competitiveness in the IT field by creating a research environment comprising clusters, enterprises, and research and innovation centers. As the project "Stardust" commes to an end in December 2013, the project partners plan to strengthen regional cooperation by signing the cooperation agreements with the Cluster of 55°.
