One of the challenges was authorized access to the school (only teachers, schoolchildren and their parents and persons authorized by parents).
Several possible solutions were discussed – PIN, cards, security staff.
By analyzing the costs (implementation + equipment + maintenance) it is obvious that the best solution in this particular case is physical access control system.
Why this solution:
- Extra low maintenance costs (just electricity, less than standard PC);
- No PINS and cards (PIN can be forgotten, especially when we talk about schoolchildren 1st -5th degree, cards can be also forgotten and lost, each card costs $1-4) <
-
Practically not possible to cheat the system
There are schools in USA, UK, Europe and Japan using biometry for different reasons – physical access control, libraries and catering.
The pilot project should be over by the middle of October. After some time we will share the results.
