University of Latvia computing students first time go to Finals!!!

First time student’s team from University of Latvia enters in ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest Final and is one of the 100 best teams in the world. Semi-final took place in St. Peterburg on 27th of November, 2011 and two teams from Latvia participated.

Among 217 teams that participated in the event, Latvian teams took 22nd and 44th place in total. Both Latvian teams were best from Baltic’s. Young programmers on semi-final were tutored by professor Guntis Arnicāns and PhD student Rihards Opmanis.

ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest Final will take place in Warsaw from 14th till 18th of May, 2012, where 105 teams will contest for grand prix.

The tournament was conducted in line with the plan of the Association for Computing Machinery, according to which the participants were doing algorithm and program designing using high-level languages.
